Data Centre Water Cooling & Liquid Cooling Filtration

Protect cooling systems, heat exchangers and liquid-cooled infrastructure with application-specific filtration.

Filtration solutions for data centres and high-performance computing environments

As data centre power density increases, cooling systems are becoming increasingly critical to uptime, efficiency and equipment protection. PoreFiltration supplies filtration solutions for closed-loop cooling water, chilled-water systems, liquid cooling and associated water-treatment processes.

From coarse protection through to fine cartridge and membrane filtration, we can help identify the appropriate filtration stage for your system, flow rate and water quality requirements. PoreFiltration supplies bag, depth, pleated, membrane and strainer filtration for data-centre cooling water, closed-loop systems, chilled water, liquid cooling, RO protection and associated water-treatment applications.

Cooling systems are becoming more demanding. Filtration needs to keep up. As rack densities increase and data centres adopt liquid cooling, direct-to-chip cooling and higher-performance heat-transfer systems, maintaining appropriate fluid quality becomes increasingly important. Cooling systems can encounter: Corrosion products Installation debris Suspended solids Pipework debris Scale and deposits Make-up water contamination Biological contamination Treatment-related particulates These contaminants can potentially contribute to: Fouling → Restricted flow → Increased pressure drop → Reduced heat-transfer performance → Maintenance

Data Centre Filtration FAQS
What filtration is used in data centres?
Filtration can be used across cooling-water, chilled-water, liquid-cooling, RO and water-treatment systems. The appropriate technology depends on the application and water quality.
What filtration is used for liquid cooling?
Liquid-cooling systems may require fine particulate filtration to protect pumps, heat exchangers, CDUs and cold plates. The specification depends on the particular cooling architecture and fluid.
Can you filter direct-to-chip cooling systems?
Filtration can be considered for direct-to-chip cooling systems, but the filter specification must be matched to the cooling fluid, flow rate, pressure, temperature and equipment requirements.
Where are filters used in a data centre cooling system?
Filters may be installed on cooling loops, side-stream systems, chilled-water circuits, make-up water, RO pretreatment, cooling towers and liquid-cooling systems. The appropriate location depends on the system design and the equipment being protected.
What is closed-loop cooling-water filtration?
Closed-loop filtration removes particulate contamination from water circulating within a closed cooling circuit. Filtration can be installed inline or as part of a side-stream arrangement.
What is CDU filtration?
CDU filtration refers to filtration associated with a Cooling Distribution Unit. Depending on the system architecture, filtration can help protect the CDU and downstream liquid-cooling equipment from particulate contamination.
